Are New Jersey Court Records Public? The New Jersey Open Public Records Act was passed into law in 2002, replacing the pre-existing right-to-know law. According to the act, New Jersey court records are considered public records. The New Jersey Court Rule 1.38 covers the right of public access to the court records.
